John Frederick BLOOM arrived in Wilmington sometime prior to 1848, at which time he married Mary Ellison BOWEN. He lived in Wilmington about ten years. During that time, children Sarah, Laura, Gohn Goodwin and Mary Catherine were born. He ran a grocery store on the eastern end of Market Street and owned other property in and around Wilmington. I am trying to determine exactly when he arrived in NC and what his origins were in Germany. Any information about any of his family will be appreciated.

I'm looking for information on my grandfather, Horace Brown who is the brother of Webb Brown, both deceased. My father Harold Don BROWN was born March 3, 1920, and died December 22, 1990. I was not raised by my father and therefore do not have any ties to the remaining family, if any. The only information that I have is that Webb was born in Bowden, NC, and the family lived there and around NewHanover. Horace's only son was my father, Harold Don BROWN. I was told a long time ago that the family came from Scotland to the Dublin/NewHanover area. My father lived with his uncle Webb because his father could not afford to raise him?? Also, I remember a KING being mentioned as a possible relative. Any clues would be very well appreciated.

Searching for Louise WILLOUGHBY she lived in Wilmington N.C.and in 1926 placed 2 children in Children home in Greensboro, N.C. was beleived to have married Fredrick LAMB. Inez HOPKINS name is listed as a neighbor at that time as knowing this, I don't know anthing about her. If anyone knows anything about any of these or their decendants, I would appreciate any help.

will records be for the timeframe up to 1875 - Pender or New Hanover?
The target of my search, the parents of Heskit Watkins, who was born abt.
1804 in NC. We believe his father to be a John WATKINS, born abt. 1780 in
Watha, NC of the now current Pender County. At least, if he wasn't born
there, someone seems to have traced him to there from England.

WILLIS, Agerton b. ca 1725, moved to Bladen County ca 1756/8 to join his siblings: Daniel, Benjamin, Joanna (wife of James COUNCIL) and George WILLIS. Agerton had lived in New Hanover County since birth and bought 300 acres of land there 13 Dec 1754. It was located on the east side of a branch of Long Creek. I am told this is now in Pender County. Agerton died before 1784 in Bladen County. North Carolina Colonial Records, Agerton had a Last Will and Testament. Where and how is it filed ? Within it, he freed his son, Joseph, a mulatto. However, NC law describes any mixed-blood as a mulatto. His descendants contend that his mother was a Cherokee Indian slave woman, named Sarah. Who were Agerton's parents ?
My DUNN and MCTAGGERT ancestors are supposed to be from North Carolina. I believe they lived there during the War between the States. My grandmother always told me that Dunn, NC was named after one of my ancestors. When I visited Dunn many years ago, the Court House told me that Dunn was named after a Mr. B. R. Dunn (a railroad engineer). I was told that he probably lived in Wilmington. They could tell me nothing more. I believe that my g-g grandfather and g-g grandmother lived there during the War between the States. Their names were Thomas Dunn and Margaret McTaggert.

KIMSEY, Benjamin. I'm trying to locate the ship that delivered my ggggggg- grandfather, Benjamin Kimsey, to the New World. I have very poor copies from a publication that I'm trying to identify. At the top, its says "Passenger and Immigration Lists Index: 1996". There follows a list of surnames with surname, where they landed, a date (presumably the date when they landed) and then an index and page number. Benjamin Kimsey is listed, but the copy quality is so poor that I can't read the listing. However, he appears to have landed in North Carolina in the mid-to-late 1700s, and I'm assuming that means he landed in Wilmington. Does anyone know what this publication might be? Also -- does anyone know of a good source of ships lists landing anywhere in NC during the mid-1700s? All help most appreciated.
