Researching James Lockhart lived in New Hanover middle to late 1700's. Father was James Lockhart, mother Elizabeth Lillington. Served as a Colonial during Rev. War under his uncle Alexander Lillington. I have some letters that he wrote to his mother that were published in the Pettigrew Papers but can not find any information of his whereabouts after 1780's. I am following up a lead about a John and Frances Bailey Ray, and their daughter, Edith (Edy) Ray that may have lived in this county or New Hanover in 1756 (the area is now Brunswick Co.). Hiram and Catherine were shown in the New Hanover 1820 census records with 6 children.They moved to Alabama soon after the 1820 census were taken. I am researching my family history and I have become stalled out from ambiguous information or no information. I have been searching for "PENNY" family history for over a year now and I have got a lot farther than I thought I would. I am stuck and I can't go any farther. I thought you might could help me. I have many names but I can't find information which links any people. I have found a person named "JOSHUA C. PENNY" which I believe to be my 3rd great grandfather. This name shows up in the 1800, 1820 & 1830 New Hanover census. I am for certain you his parents are? Can you help? Looking for information concerning Thomas ROGERS born in Duplin County about 1751. His parents, I believe were Thomas(1716?-1782) and Elizabeth(no maiden name). Thomas ROGERS, born 1751, had eleven children. Looking also for information concerning child James ROGERS born 2/16/1793 m. Nance (?maiden name) Thomas ROGERS (1751) parents came from Rhode Island to North Carolina. If I can confirm this link I believe I can extend my line back to approximately 1558 in Rhode Island. Looking for any relatives of Fred Edward Lamb born in wilmington, N C . He had two sons Robert Lee Lamb & Frederick Edward Lamb, He was last know to have been in Jessup Georgia. Both the sons were put in the children home in Greensboro, NC. around 1926. I was married to Rorbert Lee Lamb(Collins) he was adoped out of the Greensboro Children home he died in 1988.
