Looking for more information on William SPEARS and family from State : NC, County : New Hanover Co. Year : 1762. I am trying to connect him to the my SC William SPEARS who was in NC before the Rev War. William served in the Dragoons in Captain Samuel ASHE's 1st Troop Command at least in the months of April, may and June 1778 and also in the 2nd Troop Command by Captain Cosmo MEDIECE. May 12, 1780, William was paid for "Militia Duty in Brandon's Regiment since the Fall of Charleston Anderson's Return. Amount of Fifteen pounds, Eleven Shillings and Five Pence, Sterling". On April, 21, 1782, the estate of William Spears gave three 5 year old steers valued at fifteen pounds each, to the Detachment of General Marion's Brigade under the Command of Lieut. Colonel Peter STORRY in Georgetown. On April 27, 1785, the Commissioners of the Treasury paid the estate of William SPEARS, 25 pounds and Six Pence Sterling for the beef used in 1782 and 60 days Militia Duty. His executers, administrators or assigns were entitled to receive from the Treasury Office One Pound Fifteen Shilllings and One Farthing on demand as one year's interest on the principal sum of 25 pounds and six pence on April 27, 1787. I believe that William's father may be a William also and that they may have lived in NC before the Rev. War and settled in SC after the war. COOKE, Mary Julia, b. 28 Sep 1804, Wilmington, New Hanover, North Carolina. I have an old old family Bible belonging to the daughter of Mary Julia. This is the only connection I have to Wilmington and is a dead end. The Bible records state she married 17 Nov 1822 in Charleston, South Carolina to William ROGERS, b. 1801 in Charleston. Their known children are Carolina S Elizabeth ROGERS b. 1828 in Georgia/South Carolina and possibly Paul ROGERS married Anna ______. This name was gleaned from family letters. Another child is Leonard L ROGERS that is supposed to be born in South Carolina in 1825. Carolina and Leonard married a brother and sister named STANFORD. I have several descendants to present day on the STANFORDs and ROGERS. Does anyone have any information on these families? Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

Jacob LEE who was deeded 100 acres of land by Robert HENDRY in 1796 in Black River Settlement, New Hanover COunty, NC. I have no dates on Jacob LEE but believe that he may be the father of Ann LEE HENDRY, Robert HENDRY's wife. Jacob's wife's name may also have been Ann, d. 26 Nov 1800 near Buckhead, Burke County, GA.Since the Robert Hendry family moved to Georgia in 1796, Jocob LEE could be the father-in-law or one of Ann's brothers.
Seeking information on a Robert L. MASON, b abt 1830 in New Hanover Co., NC (per Civil War enlistment and census). He shows up in the 1870 and 1880 census of Bladen Co., NC. and enrolled in the Civil War in 1862 in Bladen Co. I have been unable to find anything on him pre 1862, specifically the 1850/60 census. Seeking who his family was and where he was prior to 1862. I believe he married a Piercy Thompson in Bladen Co. shortly after the war. I spent the day at the TN Archives, much of it reading books about New Hanover Co. NC. My ggggrandfather was John Evans. He married Priscilla Bordeaux daughter of Daniel Bordeaux abt/ 1800. In the New Hanover Court Minutes, # 4, 1794-1800 there are several mentions of John, Jonathan, Edward, and Benjamin Evans along with the Bordeauxs and Bloodworths. Can anyone help me pinpoint my John? Was he the son of Jonathan? Where does Edward fit in? And is there a record of the time and place of his marriage to Priscilla? I will appreciate any help. Pennsylvania Gazette, 1728-1748; Capt. LUMAN of a sloop belonging to Mr. CARNES of Boston was lost overboard, 1736, off the coast of North Carolina. He was presumed murdered by his crew. wonder if you have ever encountered the family name
SULTON in New Hanover County. I'm looking for an ancestor who was probably
born around 1855, was apparently from a Jewish family, and who went to
Horry County, SC, married Prudence Amanda BRYAN, and had a son James
Edward. He later left Horry, and nothing is known about him after that.
Have you happened to run into anyone researching a Sulton family? (Other
versions have him as Sullivan or Sutton, but I think the most likely
variant is Sulton -- though I know that there are both Suttons and
Sullivans in New Hanover County.)

John Henry HAUSER, a lad of 17 or 18, from Yadkin County, NC, left North Carolina just after the Civil War to go to California. He probably sailed from Wilmington and either went around the Horn or crossed the Isthmus of Panama. He posted a notice in the San Jose Mercury about a found dog on January 25, 1866. Thus, he probably left Wilmington between June and December 1866. Can anybody suggest a way to learn the ship or ships on which he sailed?

I'm searching for a link to the Lees of Black River Settlement (Wilmington), NC. I have the following: Ann LEE, b 26 Dec 1752 in the Black River Settlement of New Hanover County, NC. m Robert HENDRY, Feb 1778, New Hanover County. 9 children were all born in New Hanover County. Ann, Robert and her mother (also Ann)moved with the children to Buckhead in Burke County, Ga in 1796. I have a 1796 deed showing the transfer of NC land to a Jacob LEE.(I am guessing that was Ann's brother or perhaps an uncle.) After her mother's death, Ann and her family moved to Taylor's Creek in Liberty County GA. Robert and Ann are buried there. I know that she was the daughter of Ann LEE who died near Buckhead, Burke County GA, 26 Nov. 1800. I am seeking the name of her father and any other siblings.
