QRYTEXT: Looking for family information on the various Picket/Pickett's that were in New Hanover Co, NC as reported on the 1815 Tax List. I believe my family ties to the Hosea Picket shown on this Tax List but would like to contact others who are related to the other Picket's listed.

They were: James Picket, shown as having 470 acres, 1 white poll,
Jacob Picket, shown as having 277 acres, 1 white poll,
Ephraim Picket, shown as having 160 acres, 1 white poll, 1 black poll
Sion Picket, shown as having 1,033 acres, 3 black polls
John Picket, shown as having 972 acres, 1 white poll, 1 black poll
Hosea Picket, shown as having 731 acres, 1 white poll, 3 black polls
Also, would appreciate explanation of exactly what a poll means.
My grgrgrgrandfather was a Hosea/Hosey Pickett who was born about 1815 in New Hanover Co, NC. He married a Mary Ann Mercer. I am hoping to be able to find which one of those men listed on the 1815 Tax List would be the father to my Hosea Pickett, b: 1815. Looking forward to hearing from a Picket/Pickett researcher.

MULLINGTON posted by Edie Rider on Friday, January 14, 2000

I am seeking information/leads on gathering documentation for Ann MULLINGTON. I do not know who her parents were or if she had any siblings. Information I have but can't document yet include the following:
Born: April 5, 1734 in Brunswick Town, New Hanover, NC
Died: December 24, 1775 in Balden Co, NC
Married: Dec 23, 1750 in Bladen Co, NC to Josiah Lewis who was born February 17, 1727/28 in New Hanover, NC.

I have located "Brunswick" in Robeson County, which came out of Bladen County which came out of New Hanover County. I also have located "Brunswick Station" which is located in Brunswick County. I am guessing that she came from Brunswick in Robeson County since this is where most of the family ended up. But that's really a guess.

Can anyone point me in a good direction for research and documentation to locate ANN MULLINGTON and her family please!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Edie Rider

DAVIS, PERKINS, WALLACE posted by Donnis Key on Tuesday, January 25, 2000

I believe there is a strong possibility that my Mary PERKINS, b. 1812 Ga. or Al. d. 1880 Polk Co., Fl. p.b. Collins Cemetery, Lakeland, Polk Co., Fl., m. Dec. 11, 1828 to John F. Davis ( b. Jan 8, 1800 NW. Fl. or Geneva Co., Al., d. July 1, 1872 Thonotosassa, Hillsborough Co., Fl.) was the d/o Newton PERKINS, who married Pharabe WALLACE. I believe this maybe the same Newton PERKINS b. Nov. 20, 1778 New Hanover, NC., and d. Sept.10, 1867 Burke Co., Ga. John F. and Mary PERKINS DAVIS' children were Martha, Newton Marion, Sarah P., Pharabe Jane, John F. Jr.,Mary Ann, Suzanna F.,Elizabeth Ann, Luther B., Andrew Jackson, Georgia Ann ( my g.g. grandmother),and twins, Melton Marshall, and William Clinton DAVIS. You can see by the names of the children why I am leaning toward this theory. This family lived in Marion Co. Fl. Later purchased land in Jackson Co., Al only a few miles away. and moved there. They also lived in Washington Co., Al. for a short while. After the Civil War the family moved South into Fl., and settled in Hillsborough Co., Fl. After John's death, Mary resided with her daughter in Polk Co., Fl. John was a farmer, later a citrus farmer, and Mary was a school teacher. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
