SUMRALL, WILLIAMS posted by Kitty B. Hoffman on Sunday, July 12, 1998

Seeking information on two brothers from Wilmington, NC: Henry and John Paul (J. P.) WILLIAMS. Family tradition is that JP WILLIAMS was born in Wilmington, NC July 16, 1869. He move to Palatka, FLa.as a young man to work in the lumber business. It was in this capacity that he was sent to buy lumber in the Hattiesburg, MS area. There he met and married Mary Alice SUMRALL, my grandmother. His brother, Henry WILLIAMS was believed to be the eldest brother. He remained in NC, married and had one known child, Eloise. Nothing is known of his wife. His daughter, Eloise died as a child or teen. Henry was a protestant minister of the gospel, either Mehodist or Baptist. In his old age he suffered a stroke. The church sent him in a wheelchair via train to Cocoa, Fla. where his brother, JP lived. Henry died sometime later and is buried in a known but unmarked grave on Merritt Island, Fla. Henry and John Paul were believed to be orphaned and adopted out together. JP WILLIAMS died at home in Green Cove Springs, FL on 8 Nov 1941. He was not a veteran of any war.
