Will of Allan Sloan, New Hanover County, NC 17 August 1768 October Term 1768 In the name of God, Amen. I Allan SLOAN being very sick and weak, in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say principals and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent christian burial at the discresion of my Executors, --- doubling but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless us with in this life, I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form; I do give and bequeath to William SLOAN my well beloved son whom I also constitute make and ordain the sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament, all and singular my lands, ----- and tenements, and implements thereunto belonging also my negro fellow named DICK, also our feather bed and bedclothes. Also I give to my well beloved daughters Jane JOHNSON and Sarah HENESEY ten shillings to each of them to be paid out of my movable effects. I also give to Richard HENESEY my well beloved son in law two mares, also I give my well beloved daughters Ann and Hannah SLOAN each of them one cow, and calf, or the value of them to be paid out of my cattle. I also give and bequeath to Ann SLOAN my dearly beloved wife and six of my youngest children, the remainder of all my estate to be divided in seven equal shares; also her living on the estate during her widowhood. I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and annull all other forms of testaments, wills, legacies and bequeaths, by me in any ways before named or willed ratifying and confirming this and no other, to be my Last Will and Testament.
