legal guardian, his mother, Eunice L. Lowery. At an early age, Norman
moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina where he attended elementary school
and joined Boyd Hill Baptist Church. In 1981, he moved back to New York
and joined the Job Corp. Norman worked in multiple occupations and felt

a physical fitness and self-empowerment program that encouraged young
people to take care of their physical and mental health. After moving
to Wilmington, he continued to work with youth. He was a part of the
Gang Task Force. He often went to several schools and community centers
encouraging young people to stay away from gang involvement and to have
self-confidence. He also counseled youth at the NHC Juvenile Day
Treatment Center.
While living in Wilmington, Norman was a member of New Beginning
Christian Church. He was employed as a Maintenance Engineer at the
Holiday Inn. Norman had an awesome ability to connect with people. He
never met a stranger.
